UP Education Network is a nonprofit school management organization whose mission is to rapidly transform chronically underperforming district schools into extraordinary schools that sustain high achievement over time. Our turnaround schools ensure that students acquire the knowledge, skills, and strength of character necessary to succeed on the path to college and to achieve their full potential. UP Education Network currently operates four schools, UP Academy Charter School of Boston (grades 6-8), UP Academy Leonard Middle School (grades 6-8), UP Academy Charter School of Dorchester (grades K1-5), and UP Academy Oliver (grade 6). Across our network, we will serve more than 2500 students in Boston and Lawrence in fall 2014.
Role: UP Education Network's Manager of Academic Programs will directly support the organization's network of schools by completing various projects related to academic programming, including developing tools and resources to improve instruction and facilitate the sharing of best practices. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast paced environment, can manage many competing priorities and constituents, and can work efficiently under deadlines. The Manager of Academic Programs will report to the Director of Principal Leadership (DPL). This individual will be expected to work out of the network schools approximately 70-80% of the week, likely shadowing the DPL.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • Develop network-wide tools to improve academic programming;
  • Support the DPLs executive-level activities, including but not limited to preparation of materials to be presented to key external stakeholders;
  • Serve as direct contact and disseminate key information with school's Principals on specific instances as determined by DPL;
  • Prepare materials for monthly Principal meetings and professional development sessions;
  • Document and track best practices across the network;
  • Consolidate and maintain lists of all state and district requirements for use year-over-year;
  • Execute the data gathering, documenting, and planning of organization-wide strategic initiatives;
  • Support the DPL in crisis management situations;
  • Support the execution of systems across the schools;
  • Support school launch in summer 2014 and beyond;
  • Assist DPL in maintaining and updating Network Guides; and
  • Perform other duties related to this job description as required by the DPL.

  • Bachelor's degree is required; and
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
