Chief of Party LAC Guatemala 2014, Guatemala

Chemonics seeks a chief of party for anticipated USAID projects in Central America in technical areas including crime and violence prevention, at-risk youth, municipal governance, community mobilization, and/or citizen security. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.
Responsibilities include:
  • Provide project leadership, management, and technical direction
  • Serve as a project's key liaison with USAID, government counterparts, and local partners and other institutions
  • Manage and supervise the work of project personnel and subcontractors
  • Ensure that all project assistance is technically sound and appropriate
  • Oversee project work planning, performance, and long-term programmatic vision
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in public policy, public administration, international relations, or other related field and 10 years of senior management experience with progressively increasing responsibilities managing development projects; 15 years of senior management experience may be substituted for the education requirement
  • Extensive experience in project management and in Latin America required; experience in Central America and Guatemala strongly preferred
  • Experience managing U.S. government complex contracts and agreements preferred
  • Ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse partners, including the private sector, public sector, and civil society and to lead multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in effectively working with local government structures, senior government officials, civil society actors, other donors, and U.S. government projects
  • Strong communication skills, both interpersonal and written
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
  • Fluency in written and oral English and Spanish required
