The European Free Trade Association (EFTA) is an intergovernmental organisation set up for the promotion of free trade and economic integration to the benefit of its four Member States: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. The EFTA Secretariat provides services to the EFTA States. In Brussels this entails support in the management of the EEA Agreement.

The HR Assistant will mainly:

  • Assist in the recruitment process of staff and trainees (e.g. vacancy announcements, schedule and setting up interviews, finalising recruitment procedures);
  • Administer employment contracts and related procedures;
  • Coordinate and manage the procedures and needs related to incoming and departing staff;
  • Create and maintain complete individual HR files and enter and maintain them updated in the HR information system (Empower);
  • Contact and coordination with Belgian authorities and protocol related to ID cards and VAT matters;
  • Proof reading of HR and general Administrative documents in English;
  • General HR-related issues.

Qualifications

  • A commercial diploma or equivalent within the field of HR or other relevant subjects.

Experience

  • Five years of relevant work experience within HR/Personnel;
  • Excellent knowledge of standard MS Office products;
  • Experience in use of HR systems and web-based recruitment tools;
  • Experience in supporting line managers in HR-related matters;
  • Experience from working in an international organisation would be an asset.

Skills

  • Strong administrative skills with an eye for details;
  • Service-minded, flexible and capacity to deal simultaneously with multiple tasks;
  • Enjoy working both independently and within an international team;
  • Ability to draft documents concisely and clearly in the English language;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English;
  • Fluency in French and/or Dutch;
  • Knowledge of another EFTA language would be an asset.

Employment Terms

Grade: B5 
Annual salary: EUR 47,140
Appointments are made at the first step of the grade. The Secretary-General reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a level different from that advertised.
