International Partnerships Manager

Salary: Generous local salary and expenses package

Main duties: To manage LAFF’s education and sustainability programmes in accordance with LAFF’s programme priorities and objectives
Responsibilities: LAFF reserves the right to vary duties and responsibilities according to the need of LAFF’s charitable objectives; however the International Partnerships Manager should be willing and able to undertake the following tasks:
Partners
  • Design and manage the implementation of LAFF ́s annual work plan.
  • Provide information and support to assist partner organisations to work towards sustainability and independence from outside help, developing a sustainable model for LAFF ́s participation with partner organisations in Peru.
  • Support staff of partner organisations to identify funding requirements, working with them to establish detailed plans, budgets, risk assessments, monitoring and evaluation plans for any future support and activities required, submitting the required information to the LAFF team so that fundraising is possible.
  • Identify (through participatory techniques) methods to implement, sustain and grow income generation and cost reduction schemes at partner organisations.
  • Identify (through participatory techniques) the requirements for vocational training for beneficiaries of partner organisations and, if appropriate, establish regular vocational training.
  • Ensure that all LAFF-funded projects are monitored and evaluated; submit qualitative and quantitative data and progress reports as required by LAFF supports and donors.
  • Assess the feasibility (and if appropriate, plan, develop and implement) skills training programmes through a social business model.
  • Plan and implement skills training programmes when appropriate, to benefit vulnerable people (particularly street children, former street children) in conjunction with local partner organisations supporting them.
  • Network and forge links with other stakeholders and organisations (including local government, donors, companies, other supporters) to ensure continued support to existing and new initiatives. When appropriate, formalise links to broaden LAFFs local partnership base.
  • Investigate and identify when necessary, suitable skilled (local) contract staff to deliver specific projects and support project implementation.
  • Identify and investigate new projects and initiatives for LAFF to support in Peru in line with LAFF objectives and fields of work (if decided appropriate by LAFF team).
  • Continue development of a sustainable and responsible volunteer policy in accordance with LAFF ́s Child Protection Policy.Volunteer Management
  • Host weekly progress meeting with LAFF volunteers to offer guidance, support, task distribution, feedback and planning to ensure effective team work, project progress and partner organisation support.
  • Provide orientation day for newly arrived volunteers, and assist with settling them into new environment and provide ad hoc guidance and support for in-country volunteers as needed.
  • Establish with partner organisations areas in which volunteer support is required.
  • Develop new volunteer roles if appropriate and needed and communicate with future volunteers as necessary, pre-departure.
  • Ensure the volunteer pre-departure and orientation packs are maintained with up-to-date and relevant information.
Communications
  • Liaise on a regular basis with members of the LAFF team via Skype, phone and email.
  • Submit a monthly progress and financial report to LAFF trustees.
  • Manage the LAFF Twitter and Facebook accounts to regularly update supporters on progress in Latin America.
  • Write a regular blog updating supporters on activity in Latin America.
  • Update LAFFs webpage periodically as required.
  • Manage regular communication with charitable organisations that support LAFF ́s work (e.g. Consortium for Street Children).
  • Produce MailChimp newsletters quarterly to keep LAFFs supporters informed re: on the ground activities.
  • Actively participate in monthly Communications meeting with LAFFs overseas volunteers in order to move forward with LAFFs communication strategy.
Finance
  • Contribute to LAFF ́s annual reports and bi-annual newsletters.
  • Support in the design, management and implementation of LAFF ́s annual budget.
  • Assist project partners to compile budget requests to LAFF at specified intervals to ensure fundraising is possible.
  • Ensure that complete accounts and receipts are submitted on a timely basis for all monies granted to project partners, as well as processed and filed appropriately according to internal systems.
  • Keep accurate records of all LAFF in-country expenditure, maintaining online filing system with receipts and detailing all expenditure incurred re: project support.
Administration
  • Technical management of and reporting on the education, vocational training, job placement, social enterprise development, capacity building and renewable energies programs benefiting at risk children and youth in the Peruvian Andes.
  • Man the LAFF inbox, responding to emails and filing on a regular basis, and distribute emails to relevant people as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update LAFF contact database on a regular basis.
Essential
  • Fluent spoken and written Spanish and English
  • A degree in a relevant subject (or equivalent qualifications/level of experience)
  • Qualifications in International Development, Education, Youth Work or related field of study
  • At least two years experience in international development (or related field)
  • Experience living and working/volunteering in developing countries (preferably in Latin America)
  • Adaptability to different social, cultural and economic conditions in both working and living contexts
  • Proactive, motivated self-starter with proven ability to work independently on own initiative and as part of a small team, with minimal management and guidance.
  • Experience working independently and/or with remotely-based team.
  • Flexible and creative approach to work
  • Experience in Project Management, including planning projects and monitoring and evaluation
  • Project leadership and management skills
  • Financial and budget management skills
  • Narrative and financial report writing skills
  • Reliable, with strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritise different tasks appropriately and meet deadlines
  • Strong IT skills with proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages, web-based email systems and social media (Facebook and Twitter)
  • Experience in the design, delivery and facilitation of capacity-building training programmes
  • Experience in volunteer management.
  • Skills in people management, capacity building and coaching
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Skilled and proactive networker with the ability to build and manage strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Experience working with marginalized and/or at-risk young people
Desirable
  • Knowledge of participatory training approaches appropriate for marginalized youth
  • Knowledge of diverse income-generation initiatives and techniques
  • Experience in using participatory practices and participatory facilitation skills
  • Experience living and working/volunteering in Peru, ideally in Cusco
  • Experience in writing successful funding applications to trusts, foundations, corporates and/or public sector bodies, or fundraising in other contexts
  • Confident, persuasive and motivating public speaker
  • Experience in the use of social media
