Junior Accountant - Accounts Receivable

We are seeking a dynamic, self-motivated, and service-orientated professional for the position of Jr. Accountant – Accounts Receivable in the Corporate Services Program, Finance Department. The selected candidate will maintain projects’ filing system and handle accounts receivable duties, while assisting in preparation of documentation for donor audits.

The position will be based at CIMMYT’s Main Campus (located 45 km northeast of Mexico City, Mexico) but will interact with all CIMMYT´s experimental stations and regional office (country and world-wide) on a regular basis.

Specific responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Prepare detailed invoices containing amount due, type of services performed, etc. for all CIMMYT’s invoicing to 3rd parties.
  • Liaise with Project Accountants and PMU to ensure timely issue of invoices to Donors in accordance with payment terms established in Donor Agreements.
  • Prepare and review on a monthly basis an overview of unpaid invoices and maintain aging reports.
  • Submit to Program Finance Supervisor and PMU on a monthly basis an overview of outstanding Donor invoices for follow-up.
  • Inform Program Finance staff of outstanding and overdue invoices for other goods or services.
  • Elaborate reconciliation between manual invoicing and income recorded in financial system.
  • Resolve billing inquiries received from consultants and clients.
  • Update the Donors master file with contact information.
  • Submit to PMU Donor Financial Reports, ensuring tracking consecutive numbers, entering in control sheets and filing.
  • File documents related to each project timely, to ensure that all the projects information are complete and accurate.
  • Work closely with the work team during special projects and annual audits searching and providing documental supports.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

We are seeking candidates with the following qualification, skills and attitudes:

  • BA/BS in Accounting.
  • Minimum two years of work experience in an Accounts Receivable function.
  • Demonstrated skills and customer care/liaison with suppliers at international level.
  • Demonstrated experience in handling a large volume of invoices due for payment.
  • Demonstrated experience in supervising a large volume of accounts payable information, and accounts administration.
  • Good working knowledge of English.
  • Excellent use of MS Office (advanced Excel skills). Experience with AX Dynamics will be an advantage.
  • Strong level of customer orientation, and ability to work with different nationalities, under pressure and as a member of diverse work team.
