Murdoch is a University striving to make a difference to the way we live, think and understand each other and the world around us. Over the past two years Murdoch has undergone significant restructure to boost the quality of research and teaching and is currently amongst one of the best universities in the world opened less than fifty years ago.
We are recognised as one of Australia's leading research institutions, and were one of only two Western Australian Universities to be listed in the 2012-2013 'Top 400' of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Murdoch was also placed in the top five per cent of universities globally in the 2012-2013 QS World University's World Rankings.
The Position
We are currently looking for a skilled and enthusiastic veterinarian to join the College of Veterinary Medicine, to make a significant contribution to the teaching and clinical activities in small animal surgery.
We are currently looking for a skilled and enthusiastic veterinarian to join the College of Veterinary Medicine, to make a significant contribution to the teaching and clinical activities in small animal surgery.
This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the small animal surgery section which comprises three academic positions, three ACVS or ECVS-trained residents and one intern. The successful applicant will work with two senior surgeons and be expected to contribute to surgical teaching of undergraduates (didactic, laboratory and clinical) and to participate in the clinical service in the AVMA-accredited Murdoch University Veterinary Hospital. A strong interest in orthopaedic surgery would be desirable but an opportunity to do soft tissue surgery is also available. Participation in the after-hours roster is required.
To be considered for the role, a Veterinary degree registrable in Western Australia is essential. Professional specialist training in small animal surgery with certification (or credential to sit board examination) by a recognised institution such as the European or American College of Veterinary Surgeons is also required. A postgraduate degree, ideally a PhD or evidence of near completion of a doctoral degree, is desirable. Contribution to the research efforts of the surgery section and the College is expected and experience in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels is essential for this position.
