Position Description: The Regional Director for Europe & Asia is responsible for providing overall leadership to program development, planning and implementation in addition to donor outreach, business development and representation. He/she serves as the E&A’s lead person for programmatic and administrative, and personnel oversight.
Specific Outputs:
· Establishes region’s strategic approach in support of the organization’s overall strategic direction. Develops sub-regional business development opportunities in an effort to grow the regional portfolio.
· Provides leadership in technical design, implementation, evaluation, and overall management of projects. May serve as leader for special projects and coordinate team efforts.
· Contributes to IFES’ technical leadership in the field of electoral assistance and democratic institution strengthening.
· Cultivates relationships with internal and external constituencies to advance awareness of IFES’ reputation and project success.
· Manages B&P resources to ensure competency in proposal development process. Ensures timely action to RFAs and RFPs.
· Conducts performance evaluations of Deputy Director and/or Program Managers and Chiefs of Party. Establishes employee development plans linked to organizational goals. Builds a high performance team.
· Promotes team environment, collaboration and consensus building.
Qualifications:
· BS/BA [Masters preferred] ideally with 10+ years in international development or related field or relevant progressive experience.
· Outstanding communicator, both verbally and in writing. Excellent presentation skills.
· Ability to manage high energy teams; prioritize and oversee multiple activities in a fluid and dynamic environment.
· Organized, effective time and resource manager.
· Experienced collaborator and contributor to successful business development efforts; including experience with USAID grant and contract proposals, regulations, and procedures.
· Experienced and successful business development leader with major bi-lateral donors.
· Highly experienced with program/budget development, management, and oversight at regional level.
· Field experience in either Asia or Europe is preferred.
· Foreign language skills are preferred.
