We are looking for
A specialist who combines expertise on integrated landscape approaches and education, to strengthen our multi-disciplinary team of professionals in a rapidly expanding portfolio on landscape approaches and capacity development. Your focus will be on landscape approaches, in particular leadership, entrepreneurial skills development and the development of public-private partnerships (PPP), in combination with capacity development, training and curriculum design. 

We ask
We are looking for an enthusiastic development practitioner who is highly experienced in capacity strengthening, training and curriculum development. Our work portfolio contains short term and longer term projects related to capacity development, supporting institutional innovation, and facilitating institutional change in the field of NRM, integrated landscape approaches, landscape restoration, conflict management, public-private partnerships, leadership and entrepreneurial skills development. We are especially looking for someone who looks at landscape approaches from a business perspective, hence candidates with a business related background are especially requested to apply.

We expect the specialist to:
  • Be an excellent facilitator and trainer in the field of landscape approaches and natural resources related conflict management;
  • Be experienced in topics of leadership, entrepreneurship and inclusive business development;
  • Be an expert in competence-based training, training design and curriculum development, tailored to today’s competitive short course market;
  • Be an experienced project manager, able to develop and manage your own portfolio in the field of landscape approaches, conflict management, and short course development;
  • Have a large network in Asia and Africa, and a proven track record in acquisition.
The specialist will:
  • Design and implement capacity development and training programmes on integrated landscape approaches, conflict management, PPP, leadership, entrepreneurial skills development;
  • Critically examine and further develop our professional course programme with a special focus on curriculum development and market development;
  • Facilitate training workshops and develop training-related approaches, materials, methods and tools;
  • Carry out advisory missions, manage projects and contribute to the development of our portfolio on integrated landscape approaches and capacity development.

We ask

Selection criteria:
  • A Masters or PhD degree preferably in a combination of education science and NRM-related science, with a development and/or business orientation;
  • A minimum of fifteen years of work experience, with at least five years of experience working in developing countries (Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia);
  • Experience in capacity development, training and curriculum development in a related field of study;
  • Experience in leadership and entrepreneurship, private sector development and facilitation of public private partnerships;
  • Experience in the acquisition and management of multi-annual projects;
  • Ability to design and facilitate multi-stakeholder processes and institutional innovation processes;
  • A strong interest in linking theory with policy and practice;
  • High level communication and writing skills and sensitivity towards cultural differences;
  • Excellent English language skills; fluency in French and/or Spanish will be an added benefit;
  • Flexibility in work planning, and able to work 6-8 weeks per year in target countries.

We offer
An initial one year contract of 18 hours per week with a performance based possibility for extension. Scale 11 or scale 12 CAO Stichting DLO € 2972 - € 5247 gross per month, depending on education and experience of the candidate.

We encourage close collaboration with other groups in Wageningen UR, which includes shared appointments that enable staff to combine research work with the outreach and capacity development activities of the Centre for Development Innovation.
