Human Resources Officer , International Crisis Group

The International Crisis Group is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation committed to preventing and resolving deadly conflict.
Purpose of the role:
The Human Resources Officer will be responsible for the correct and timely coordination of the Belgian payroll and benefits administration (approximately 30 staff), managing the internship program (approximately 35 interns) and supporting the overall day-to-day running of the HR unit. This is a temporary role to cover for a maternity leave from end of October 2015 till end of March 2016.
Specific responsibilities:
Coordination of Belgian Payroll & Benefits
  • Coordinate preparation of Belgian payroll on a monthly basis;
  • Administer medical, pension, insurance schemes and other benefits for the Belgian workforce;
  • Maintain and update employee data/records in HRIS;
  • Draft employment contracts;
  • Handle and maintain work permits; and,
  • Manage Belgian vendor relationships including benefits related billing, correcting discrepancies and processing timely payments.
Generic HR Support
  • In coordination with responsible hiring manager and HR Manager, coordinate and support in the recruitment for certain positions across the organization;
  • In coordination with International Payroll and Benefits Specialist draft employment contracts;
  • Administer new hire in HRIS
  • Coordinate hiring of consultants and make sure consultants have appropriate contracts;
  • If requested, provide general support to the HR unit.
  • Serve as the internship coordinator and the primary point of contact for all internship-related questions;
Requirements:
  • A relevant undergraduate university degree;
  • At least 1 year of HR experience in payroll and benefits administration, ideally gained in Belgium; 
  • Fluency in spoken and written English (working language), good knowledge of the French or Dutch language is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Good office management tools, especially in excel; experience with HRIS an asset;
  • Dynamic, resourceful, well organised, thorough & comfortable working with figures; and, 
  • Must be legally authorised to work in the E.U.
