Global Engagement Intern , Interpeace

Interpeace is a Swiss non-profit organization that works in close partnership with national partner organizations and the UN. Its aim is to strengthen the capacities of societies to manage conflict in non-violent, non-coercive ways by assisting national actors in their efforts to develop social and political cohesion. Interpeace also strives to assist the international community (and in particular the United Nations) to play a more effective role in supporting peacebuilding efforts around the world through better understanding and response to the challenges of creating local capacities that enhance social and political cohesion.
Chaired by former President John A. Kufuor and headquartered in Geneva, Interpeace is supported by bilateral and multilateral donors as well as private funding. The organization is currently active in Africa, Central America, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
About the position:
Interpeace’s Global Engagement Unit is responsible for engaging with a broad range of external stakeholders, including donor governments, strategic partners, private foundations and the general public.
Under the general supervision of the Global Engagement Officer, the Global Engagement Intern, provides day-to-day support to the Global Engagement Unit and has the following responsibilities:
Principal duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Conducting research and analysis on funding sources including foundations
  • Drafting letters and correspondence to key stakeholders
  • Research, analysis and preparation of substantive briefs and presentations
  • Supporting in the organization of conferences, travel, seminars and meetings including those of the Advisory Council
  • Keeping Interpeace’s donor contact database and grant tracking tool up-to-date
  • Provide any other support as required
Requirements:
  • Fluency in English required (native level), fluency in French desirable
  • Holding or studying for a Master’s degree in international relations, political science, human rights, journalism or related fields
  • Ability to manage many tasks at once, work against short deadlines and remain calm and focused under pressure
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Good organizational and diplomatic skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of peacebuilding and conflict prevention issues
  • Knowledge of computer applications
