IFP Capacity development & membership coordinator

The International Forum of National NGOs Platforms (IFP/FIP) brings together 64 national development NGO platforms and 6 regional coalitions in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania, representing together more than 22,000 organizations.
The IFP’s aim is to play a pioneering role, among others, in the capacity building of NGO platforms and the monitoring and implementation of Agenda 2030.
The adoption of a new IFP 2016-2020 Strategy as well as the creation of a legal structure in France represent opportunities to develop the network’s activities.
In order to respond to its new ambitions, the IFP Secretariat will be strengthened. We are thus looking for a dynamic, motivated and creative person to join our team and coordinate the capacity development activities, in relationship with the IFP staff, its Council and national and regional members. This is a unique opportunity to innovate and strengthen the IFP’s support to members and the network’s facilitation, working within a multicultural environment and decentralized team.
Under the direct supervision of the IFP Executive Director, the IFP Capacity development & Membership coordinator will be responsible for supporting the development and coordination of the capacity development strategy, plans and activities. The Capacity development& membership coordinator will regularly be in touch with all other IFP staff and Executive Committee.

Main responsibilities and tasks

Implement and participate in design of learning, leadership and outreach programs, enabling the IFP to implement its strategy in the field of leadership, participation, organisational development and the strengthening of its members and their engagement in the IFP.
Design and implementation of the capacity development activities
· Work with IFP members, identify their needs and design activities to strengthen and enhance their governance, management, capacity and collaboration within and across regions
· Organize the capacity development activities for national and regional members
· Develop partnerships with capacity development organisationsand experts
· Facilitate peer learning among member organisations
· Implement IFP’s Leadership development programme
· Contribute to the creation of tools and guides for the IFP members
· Plan webinars, workshops, trainings, and regional conferences in collaboration with regional and national members to meet the capacity development objectives;
· Coordinate Monitoring and evaluation processes for the international, regional and national activities
Foster IFP’s members engagement
· Responsible to assist members in elaborating strategies of engagement in the IFP
· Responsible on the regular activity monitoring (report and tools to measure)
· Identify and build synergies among IFP members
· Responsible to gather and systematize IFP’s understanding and knowledge of member organisations and their specific context, in collaboration with the IFP staff
· Reponsible to provide information to new members on how to become a members, rights and responsabilities.
· Facilitate decision making of IFP bodies on questions of organisational development
Support to the Director, Council & the General Assembly
· Participate and support the organisation of the IFP main events, such as seminars, Council meetings, General Assemblies etc.
· Support the facilitation of the Membership committee within the IFP Council
· Any other tasks within the scope of the role as directed and agreed.

Qualification and Experience

Education/Training:
Master’s degree (NGO management, organizational development, project management, etc.), preferably with an international orientation
Technical Skills/Expertise :
Proven experience of capacity development and learning theory and organisational development work in multinational settings in several capacity building areas
Keen understanding of the challenges in communication, resource constraints, and other unique circumstances found in working in a global setting
Strong logistical coordination and financial management skills, including experience of implementing and reporting on donor-funded projects
Experience working in a network or collaboration of NGOs in developing and developed countries
Expertise organizing trainings and capacity development tools
Minimum Professional Experience required :
At least 4 years of experience working in a relevant field, including in NGOs and in NGO development.
Languages :
Fluency in English, very good command of French and/or Spanish. Knowledge of Portuguese would be a plus.
Personal qualities/interpersonal skills :
Excellent presentation, communication and facilitation skills;
Cultural sensitivity and ability to respect and work well with people from different backgrounds and disciplines;
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with others and towards shared objectives in a decentralized team.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, and follow through on issues in a timely manner
Ability to organize own work and manage own time and interact with a decentralized team
Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to the members in manner that engage them and allow them to better participate in IFP’s work.
Ability to generate innovative solutions, being creative and taking risk.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and willingness to work under time constraints and pressure

Conditions of employment

- Starting date: as soon as possible
-Permanent position - Full time
  • Location: flexible (preferably outside of Europe). International travelling is to be foreseen
  • Salary will depend on experience and location
