Description:
Job Title: Communications Associate FLSA Status: Exempt Organizational Track: Administration Reports to: Deputy Director of CommunicationsPosition Summary: This position is responsible for supporting the planning and implementation of communications strategies and outreach activities at the programmatic and institutional levels.
Essential Functions (95%)
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and coordination of communications activities and special events.
- Monitor outreach timelines.
- Draft written materials including press releases, promotional materials, proposals, and policy briefs.
- Coordinate media outreach including mass mailings, email outreach, and information requests from media and interested parties.
- Assist with the maintenance of the website – writing and editing content; preparing reports on defined usage metrics; and coordinating specific website initiatives.
- Maintain organizational and media lists – coordinate with research and administration project teams to ensure data integrity.
- Review Stimson products against institutional design and editorial standards to ensure consistency and clarity.
- Coordinate logistics for brand-level and programmatic events. These include regular meetings and seminars, book launches, and other special events.
- Research and assess new communications tools.
- Track Stimson's media and other outreach efforts – maintain files and prepare reports on press coverage, testimony, speeches and presentations
- Coordinate marketing and sale of Stimson books including vendor relations, inventory management, and paid advertising. Interest in multimedia platforms and audiovisual expertise is a plus. The above specified tasks may not be the only duties assigned. Employees may be required to carry out other job-related tasks as requested by their supervisor, subject to reasonable accommodations.
Qualification:
Education and Experience:Required: Bachelors degree and 2-3 years experience, or equivalent education.
