Non-Executive Director - The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund Ltd
The Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund Ltd (EAIF) was established by the Private Infrastructure Development Group and is a long-term debt fund for private sector investments in viable infrastructure projects in low and lower middle income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa that demonstrably contribute to the reduction of poverty and the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals. EAIF aims to facilitate and increase the level of international and domestic commercial investment in the provision of infrastructure in these countries. EAIF operates under the guidance of a Board of ten non-executive directors. There is currently a vacancy for one non-executive director who will also be a member of the company s Credit and New Business Committees.
EXPERIENCE
Candidates will have extensive credit experience in the financing of projects in the private and/or public infrastructure sectors of the poorer developing countries. They will have operated at Board level and have had hands-on experience in project finance and/or public-private partnerships. Ideally, they will bring to the position a well developed network of contacts among international project promoters and financing institutions and/or the international capital markets, and have experience and knowledge of credit and capital market operations in developing countries.
Candidates must be able to conceptualise and articulate EAIF s vision and have the strong written and oral communication skills required to translate the vision into action. They will have demonstrated the diplomatic, interpersonal and communication skills needed to work with and influence Board representatives of private sector companies, senior government officials, senior stakeholders in other international organisations, non-government organisations and community representatives. They will also have demonstrated the drive and determination needed to increase the Company s portfolio over the next few years.
