Description:
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a Congressionally-funded, private, nonprofit grant-making organization that works to support freedom around the world, is seeking a Program Assistant in its Asia and Global Programs division. The position is based in Washington, D.C.
Position Summary: Provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic support to the assigned region/country program staff.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct administrative support to the Regional Director.
- Maintain the program team calendar.
- Manage the proposal review process, including logging in proposals, scheduling review meetings, and coordinating with other NED departments.
- Track internal deadlines and processes.
- Assist in tracking programmatic and administrative budgets.
- Update program contacts and maintain files.
- Organize occasional events.
- Attend and report on relevant conferences, meetings, and other events.
- Conduct research as required.
Qualification:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of major political and social issues in Asia.
- Demonstrated interest in human rights and democracy.
- Field-based experience in Asia – may include study abroad programs.
- Administrative support experience.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
