Description:
The National Endowment for Democracy (NED), a Congressionally-funded, private, nonprofit grant-making organization that works to support freedom around the world, is seeking a Program Assistant in its Asia and Global Programs division. The position is based in Washington, D.C.

Position Summary: Provide day-to-day administrative and programmatic support to the assigned region/country program staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct administrative support to the Regional Director.
  • Maintain the program team calendar.
  • Manage the proposal review process, including logging in proposals, scheduling review meetings, and coordinating with other NED departments.
  • Track internal deadlines and processes.
  • Assist in tracking programmatic and administrative budgets.
  • Update program contacts and maintain files.
  • Organize occasional events.
  • Attend and report on relevant conferences, meetings, and other events.
  • Conduct research as required.

Qualification:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Knowledge of major political and social issues in Asia.
  • Demonstrated interest in human rights and democracy.
  • Field-based experience in Asia – may include study abroad programs.
  • Administrative support experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
