Humanitarian Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor

The Humanitarian Monitoring & Evaluation Adviser will work in a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL) team, within the Humanitarian Technical Unit (HTU) as part of Save the Children UK’s Humanitarian Department. The primary purpose of the Humanitarian Technical Unit (HTU) is to ensure a high level of quality in Save the Children emergency response programmes. In addition to the MEAL team, the HTU comprises technical specialists from the fields of Education, Child Protection, Nutrition, Food Security & Livelihoods, Health, WASH and Shelter.

The post holder’s main responsibility will be to take the lead in the establishment and roll out of a monitoring and evaluation system for the humanitarian department, but will also be required to provide M&E technical support to emergency responses (remotely and directly), take part in capacity building initiatives and fulfil reporting for M&E related initiatives.

The main place of work is London with a possibility for travel overseas for up to 12 weeks of the year.

The primary purpose of the job is to support the Humanitarian Department in monitoring and evaluating its activities in order to facilitate learning and improvements, donor compliance and internal accountability. In doing so, this role will enable Save the Children to ensure it maximises its efforts in responding to the needs of children and their carers in crises around the world.

The role will also support other reporting requirements including the DEC’s Accountability Framework to ensure that these requirements are met but are also used as an opportunity for improving the Humanitarian Department’s monitoring, evaluation and accountability processes.

The role will also assist emergency responses with monitoring and evaluation technical support, both remotely and through deployment, in order to ensure that SC is delivering on its Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) commitments and expectations, as outlined in SC’s MEAL framework.
