Internal Auditor

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent, medical, emergency relief organization that provides assistance to people worldwide, regardless of their background, religion or political convictions. Above all, we aim to save lives and to offer medical care to victims of disasters, wars and epidemics. Working together with local staff, we give direct support to the population. MSF also appeals to those in power, including governments and international organizations, and speaks out about the abuses we encounter in the course of our work. The Dutch organization 'Artsen zonder Grenzen' (MSF-Holland) is a member of the international organization 'Médecins Sans Frontières'.

MSF Operational Centre Amsterdam (OCA) currently operates medical humanitarian interventions in 25 countries. On a yearly basis MSF-Holland deploys approximately 900 international staff and employs 6,100 national staff. At headquarters in Amsterdam, around 180 employees offer their support to the projects.

The Control Unit is a staff department that reports to the General Director and the Board of the association. The Controller is responsible to ensure the availability of quality data for decision making on steering and management control and for internal and external accountability and to supply expertise to the board and management on issues of governance and compliance to the principles of good governance codes, rules and regulations. The Control Unit will consist of 3 people.

With immediate effect the Controller is looking for an

Internal Auditor (100%)

The internal auditor is to further implement the internal auditing function within the Operational Center Amsterdam (OCA). Within the OCA a risk based auditing model is used focusing not only on the integrity of financial reporting (including procurement procedures) but also looking into compliance with (local) laws ands regulations, competence of management and the effectiveness and efficiency of operations. The principle objective of the position is to enhance the internal auditing and implement an effective audit policy for both the field as HQ functions. The internal auditor is based in Amsterdam and will conduct audits in the project countries. It is anticipated that about 6 field audits will need to be conducted in a year.

Profile:

We are looking for an enthusiastic person who has a self-confident and result oriented attitude. Integrity and contextual awareness are key competences. You have auditing knowledge on academic level and have at least two years working experience with a auditing preferably in a supervisory role. Field (operational) experience or experience in a humanitarian organization is a preference. Good communication skills in the English and preferably French language are a necessity.

We are offering:

° A full time appointment (based on a 40-hours work week) for one year.

° A gross monthly salary, with a current salary range between € 2.938,- and € 4.198,- depending on relevant work experience.
