Program Manager - Catholic Medical Mission Board
The Program Manager (PM) will work with the Country Director of CMMB-SA to create programs to be implemented within Southern Africa. PM will develop and implement all guidelines and policies with the purpose of ensuring compliance with all government regulations and compliance with CMMB internal practices and controls, as well as maintaining alignment with the organization's mission. PM will monitor the effectiveness of the programs, making adjustments as needed. The PM will supervise the staff reporting to he /she , assign task and duties, determine Human resources need , develop job descriptions and proactively collaboratively work with the HR manager in the recruiting , orientation and training process ..
The Program Manager is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals.All candidates must be currently based in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and implementation of project
- Facilitate the definition of project scope, goals and deliverables
- Define project tasks and resource requirements
- Develop full scale project plans in consultation with the Country Director
- Working with the National Office team, assemble and coordinate project staff
- Manage project budget in consultation with the Financial Manager
- Manage project resource allocation
- Plan and schedule project timelines
- Track project deliverables using appropriate tools assisted by the M & E Manager
- Provide direction and support to project team
- Provide quality assurance in all the services delivered by CMMB
- Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
- Present timely reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
- Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
- Produce project evaluations and assessment of results
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in Public Health with first a degree level training in a relevant social or health science.
- Extensive knowledge of public health and Southern African community structures and challenges
- Extensive knowledge of program management with a minimum of 3 years proven expertise.
- Experience with management of health programs / health institutions.
- Good research and analytical skills relevant to the health sciences.
- Excellent performance management skills: expert command of planning, programming and budgeting management.
Proven Abilility:
- Ability to multi-task efficiently across multiple projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
- Strong follows up skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and problem solving skills.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
- Able to adapt to a multicultural environment; position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to supervise and motivate a team to attain set objectives.
- Ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
- Ability to build and lead teams : ability to work as part of the team, leadership and team building, influencing and delegating, decision-making, communicate in all directions.
Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to train / mentor staff and facilitate presentations.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Good negotiation/ organizational / advocacy skills.
- Strong interest in health systems strengthening.
- Adequate analytical skills including analysis of both quantitative and qualitative data.
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Excellent computer skills, proving ability in the use of MS Microsoft suite and other statistical packages.
- Fluent English essential. Knowledge of other local languages is an asset.
- Driving – must have a driver’s license
