Trainer-Clinical Officer
The Trainer-Clinical Officer will serve as the lead for all training activities necessary to implement the program. S/he will work in close coordination with the KwaZulu-Natal DOH as well as CMMB’s Pretoria-based staff to develop and adapt existing MC and HIV training materials for the context of the program. The Trainer/Clinical Officer will facilitate training sessions for the nurses and community mobilizers from Saint Apollonaris Hospital, the surrounding clinic sites, and the community at large. S/he will also be responsible for conducting refresher training courses over the course of the program to ensure all personnel providing the comprehensive MC and HIV prevention package of services are well equipped with the latest scientific evidence and aware of any policy developments at the national and provincial level. The Trainer/Clinical Officer will have experience working in various clinical settings in South Africa, with expertise in the provision of safe MMC. S/he will also have relevant experience in conducting training and capacity building sessions for large-scale public health programs.All candidates must be currently based in South Africa.
Key Responsibilities:
·Identification of training needs and provision of training and support
·Provision of training on MMC
·Coordination and implementation of provision of on-and off site training in liaison with the Project Manager
·Preparation of all training materials
·Preparation and distribution of all relevant IEC materials
·Participation in broader CMMB-SA training initiatives
Qualifications:
- A trainer with a least 3 years experience
- Licensed Clinical officer in good standing
- Training and supervision experience in HIV/ AIDS, SRH, previous experience in training and supervision of male circumcision team is an added advantage.
- Knowledge of HIV/ AIDS , reproductive Health
- Ability to design, plan, facilitate and evaluate trainings.
- Ability to plan for and implement trainee follow up
- Excellent analytical, organizational and communications skills
- Familiarity with alternative training methodologies (such as whole site training, on-the job-training, mentorship) an asset.
- Computer literacy, particularly in the use of MS office suite
- Strong Clinical training skills
- Must be a team player
- Knowledge of Zulu language be an added advantage.
