Project Manager

The Project Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the program, and overseeing all program components. The Project Manager, who will be recruited from and/or a native of KwaZulu-Natal and will be based in KwaZulu-Natal, will work closely with CMMB-SA Main Office in Pretoria, and under the direction of the Program Director, to ensure performance, programmatic, administrative, and financial components of the project are planned, managed, and reported as required. S/he will be in charge of building relations with the Ministry of Health and USG; representation in the technical committees with technical guidance in strengthening health management information systems with a focus on, program sustainability; technical Assistance on hospital management strengthening with a focus on finance and governance; contribution to the design and implementation of annual COP and SOW for program goals, including identifying innovative and strategic opportunities for the successful implementation of the program. S/he will facilitate relationship building, partnerships, and implementation across the different districts of KwaZulu-Natal where the project will be implemented, and will be the lead technical and programmatic focal point for the project. The Project Manager is responsible for reporting, compliance, and COP development.All candidates must be currently based in South Africa.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the planning and implementation of MMC project
  2. Facilitate the definition of MMC project scope, goals and deliverables
  3. Define project tasks and resource requirements
  4. Develop full scale project plans in consultation with the Programs Director
  5. Working with the National Office team, assemble and coordinate project staff
  6. Manage project budget in consultation with the Financial Manager
  7. Manage project resource allocation
  8. Plan and schedule project timelines
  9. Track project deliverables using appropriate tools assisted by the M & E Manager
  10. Provide direction and support to project team
  11. Provide quality assurance in all the services delivered by CMMB
  12. Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders
  13. Present reports defining project progress, problems and solutions
  14. Implement and manage project changes and interventions to achieve project outputs
  15. Project evaluations and assessment of results

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Public Health or degree in any health related equivalence
  • Knowledge of public health and Southern African community structures and challenges
  • Knowledge in HIV and all the related issues
  • qualification in project management or equivalent
  • knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management
  • knowledge of project management techniques and tools
  • 2 or more years direct work experience in project management capacity
  • proven experience in people management
  • Knowledge of Zulu language
