Media and Public Relations Manager

The Society and Council seek a candidate to build and implement a communications strategy and brand-building activities, using traditional and new media to expand the organizations’ visibility.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement media plans, including strategy, press pitches, media outreach, and press kits. This includes developing specific strategies to increase visibility to programmatic activities, conferences, publications, and cultural events.
- Coordinate all media relations activities, such as organizing press conferences, responding to media inquiries, media registration, etc.
- Expand the organizations’ relationships with top media outlets to ensure a strong branding image.
- Conduct outreach using social and new media tools to broaden organizations’ visibility.
- Write and edit external/internal communications materials, including articles, news releases, and media pitches.
- Track news and media hits, as well as listings of policy and cultural events.

Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Three to five years experience in media relations/public relations with established press contacts.
- Proven track record of ability to increase visibility.
- Experience using new/social media as a tool in media outreach.
- Journalism, marketing, or communications education preferred.
- Excellent communication skills matched with ability to manage multiple, diverse projects and meet deadlines.
- Strong writing skills.
- Bilingual English-Spanish preferred, Portuguese a plus.
- Digital media skills a plus.
- The ideal candidate will have a strong interest and background in the Americas.
