WfWI - Prospect Research & Management Officer

Women for Women International provides women survivors of war, civil strife and other conflicts with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability, self-sufficiency, and active citizenship, thereby promoting viable civil societies.

WfWI currently works in eight countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan. During the last 19 years, WfWI has transformed the lives of more than 317,000 socially-excluded women and distributed over $103 million in direct aid and microcredit loans, benefiting more than 1.7 million family and community members in the process. In 2011, over 78,549 women in all eight countries received program services, with more than 40,000 sponsors from 94 countries across the world. WfWI has over 600 employees worldwide, and each of our country offices are fully staffed by women and men from the local community.
Purpose
Reporting to Deputy Director of Development, the Prospect Research & Management Coordinator will lead the Department’s efforts in researching funding prospects, including the following: researching and identifying donor prospects, communicating those prospects to the department; tracking donors and prospects and managing the donor pipeline; and recommending funding opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Outreach and Fundraising
  • Spearheading a comprehensive prospect research program for the Development department to identify and upgrade individual, foundation, and corporate donors to Women for Women International
  • Creating prospect profiles and giving histories special events, Development and Executive Office needs
  • Maintaining and updating detailed biographical and financial profiles and master files on Development donors and prospects
  • Identifying and communicating suspects/prospects to Development teams
  • Working with Development department to thoroughly understand fundraising priorities and goals; and aiding in the tracking and reporting of goal outcomes
  • Identifying new funding opportunities through donor and prospect screening
Financial and Administrative Management
  • Producing routine reports to be used for donor strategies, budget analysis, pipeline management and other fundraising activities
  • Creating policies and a standardized research process within the department
  • Maintaining electronic and hard research files on current prospects and donors
  • Maintaining and updating moves management system for major gifts program
  • Analyzing internal and external data to prepare comprehensive capacity, inclination and propensity ratings and donor strategies
  • Managing vendor relationships as needed

Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 4-6 years experience in fund raising research or equivalent information research profession
  • In-depth knowledge of research tools including Nexis for Development Professionals, Guidestar, Dun and Bradstreet, Foundation Center and wealth screening vendors
  • Advanced computer skills, including above average competency with Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and other donor database systems
  • Established track record of success in identifying likely suspects/prospects and crafting donor strategies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
  • Keen investigative sense, high level of thoroughness and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
