You’ve got substantial background in applied economics and analysis. You’re anatural leader who can inspire a team to achieve great results. Now you’re looking to apply your skills and knowledge in a role that’s designed to benefit consumers. Join theOffice of Fair Trading (OFT) as an Assistant Director – Economics and you will.  
Lead teams of economists to provide the high quality economic analysis that underpins our successful enforcement action and market interventions. Ensure our work is both rigorous and practical and economic risks are identified and managed, while developing skills of our economists. Be a key part of the management team of your group, contributing to our corporate and delivery objectives.
You’re degree qualified and likely to have a postgraduate qualification, as well as a substantial background in applied economics. You’ll need excellent analytical skills, be a strong communicator and a have a good understanding of Industrial Organisation.
The OFT is the UK’s consumer and competition authority, with a mission to make markets work well for consumers. From April 2014, the new Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will bring together many of the functions of the OFT and the Competition Commission, but in the meantime, the work of the OFT does not stop. We’ll ensure we deliver our objectives while laying the groundwork for the CMA.
