An exciting media position with a key role in delivering lasting solutions to the problems of global poverty has become available within ActionAid International. We're seeking an experienced International Media Manager who wants to be part of delivering a bold strategy to create change – harnessing the power in people to tackle injustice, influence decision makers and lead sustained improvements in the poorest and most excluded communities of the world.
As International Media Manager you will coordinate proactive media plans and respond to media opportunities. Working with International and National Communications teams you will provide compelling high quality ‘content’ for the ActionAid network across over 40 countries and on priority issues. You will raise our profile by building strong media relationships, developing stories, shaping key messages, coordinating activities and maximising media opportunities. Very hands on you will also get involved in training, quality control and brand management to ensure content is fit for purpose and in line with ActionAid’s identity, vision and mission. Important will be the ability to network, track new trends and innovate.
With extensive experience of developing high impact media strategies, implementing plans and controlling budgets, you will have the ability to provide clear vision and manage different stakeholders. An outstanding people manager you will have a track record of nurturing and leading highly successful teams as well as driving creative standards. Skilled at prioritising projects and influencing others you will have a track record of delivering high quality output and proven expertise in developing and advising on media strategy, planning, structures and processes.
Possibly with journalist qualification you must have experience of media relations and digital publishing – ideally gained in a campaigning and fundraising environment – as well as producing, coordinating and implementing multi-media strategies for specific stories/events/projects. A proficient writer/editor, you will be used to visual story-telling, using social media, delivering content for multiple platforms, meeting tight deadlines and pitching and preparing spokespeople. Able to navigate complex stakeholder relationships in an international environment, you will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, a keen news sense and the ability to manage projects.
