Project Manager , Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law

The Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law in Heidelberg is seeking to appoint a Project Manager (with an advanced degree in law, for a full-time or part-time position).

Within the area of work of Dr. Tilmann Röder (Afghanistan Project).

The Max Planck Foundation for International Peace and the Rule of Law (MPFPR) is based in Heidelberg, Germany. Its projects focus on capacity-building, consultancy and academic research in the fields of public international law, comparative constitutional law and the rule of law in transitional situations. 

This is a call for applications for an open position in the Afghanistan Project. The work of the project team includes developing legal materials – for example manuals on Afghan and international law – training of Afghan lecturers and law professionals, assistance in the development of new legislation, and other tasks. Besides, team members are responsible for the planning, coordination and implemention of project activities.

Applications from individuals who have completed their legal studies with grades above average and possess a profound knowledge of constitutional law, public international law and/or the legal systems of Islamic states are welcome. Holding a PhD degree and having relevant professional experience is no requirement but is appreciated. Part-time positions are offered to those who are interested in writing their PhD thesis. 

Candidates are expected to have a high degree of commitment, capacity for teamwork, organisational talent and the ability to work in accordance with the highest scientific standards. A good command of the English language as well as proficiency in the national languages (Dari/Farsi or Pashto) is required. Candidates would be expected to travel to Afghanistan. 

Salary and benefits for this position follow the guidelines for German public service employees (TVöD).
