University of Luxembourg President

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the first and only university of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual and international, it is a modern institution where the individual matters. The primary focus of the University is research and the bulk of the degrees offered are at Master and PhD level.

It has three academic faculties devoted to first-rate teaching and research: the Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication; the Faculty of Law, Economics, and Finance; and the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts, and Education. It also has two centres which foster research excellence and knowledge transfer: the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability, and Trust and the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine.

The President of the University of Luxembourg, as its chief executive, will play a significant role in the continued growth of the Institution. The University’s new head will consolidate the successful achievements of the first decade, extend the activities in selected areas and lead the institution through a promising move to a novel, preeminent campus, optimising the potentials of the new premises. The President will be a unifying and galvanic leader internally, heading a dedicated team, and a powerful advocate externally. The successful candidate for this role will be an academic of international stature, with extensive experience of running international research-led higher education institutions of the highest order, fluent in French, English, and German. The President will possess an understanding of the changing role of universities globally, and in particular, will be an articulate ambassador for a young university at the heart of Europe.
