Youth site leader

Key Responsibilities
  • Managing the daily operations of a large youth centre providing vocational and recreational activities for approximately 600 youth;
  • Coordinating daily and serving as a liaison between the Program Coordinator, Youth Program Officer and centre staff;
  • Creating procedures for the day to day operations and activities of the youth centre;
  • Evaluating the different programs and activities taking place at the youth centre and making recommendations for improvements;
  • Providing supervision and support to beneficiaries utilizing the youth centre;
  • Coordinating and monitoring the daily work of Syrian volunteer teachers and trainers as well as support staff including cleaning staff and security guards;
  • Carrying out regular outreach meetings with Syrian volunteers/parents/youth/administrative authorities;
  • Monitoring attendance and track student progress;
  • Maintaining the facilities of the youth centre including monitoring conditions of classrooms, recreational activities spaces, toilets, etc;
  • Providing logistical support including maintaining updated supplies for programming,
  • Regularly evaluating pedagogical and vocational training curriculum needs;
  • Practicing and maintaining appropriate Health and Safety standards and practices as outlined in the INEE minimum standards;
  • Coordinate activities in accordance to the NRC code of conduct.
Qualifications and Competences
Academic and Professional Qualifications
• Degree in Education, Pedagogy, or a related subject in the social sciences field.
Relevant Experience • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a busy work environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Personal Attributes • Possess superior management skills in a youth or educational setting and is comfortable with tasks including monitoring attendance and students' performance, supervising Syrian volunteer teachers and trainers' • Has experience engaging with the local community and is comfortable liaising with community leaders, camp committees, NRC staff, parents, and youth. • Has a solid knowledge of youth centers, school management, and youth programming. • Previous experience with vocational training or work readiness programming is an asset. • Good communication and interpersonal skills • Strong organizational and team working skills • Good cultural awareness and sensitivity • Highly approachable, trustworthy and confidential • Very Good English Language level (Business English is a plus) • Knowledge of the NGO operations and the dynamics of the humanitarian sector is a plus
