Position Summary
This is a newly created position which is required to implement, monitor and report on the effectiveness of Group-wide fraud prevention and detection processes and controls. It provides a resource to review and support Assets, COO, Functions and Group in the operation of fraud controls and demonstrating BG Group best practice.
The position will provide support to the Fraud Prevention and Detection Steering group (via the Finance Services Manager) and perform compliance related programs and initiatives as agreed with the Finance Services Manager.
Key Accountabilities
  • Co-ordinate with other functions on the design, operation and reporting of fraud prevention and detection processes and controls.
  • Provide support to the Fraud Prevention and Detection Steering group which will include quarterly review of Asset risk registers, assist with the development and implementation of training packages/materials and support the annual assessment of effectiveness of fraud prevention and detection.
  • Develop the optimal way of working ensuring that the role partners the business in a manner that is proactive and value adding.
  • Drive standardisation of key fraud controls and processes while ensuring that approaches are pragmatic in design, deployment and implementation.
  • Monitor all fraud audit findings and ensure closure in good time and quality, sharing learnings as appropriate.
  • Review and report on external trends on fraud.
  • Communicate best practice for fraud prevention and detection across locations.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience required:
  • Experience of working within a robust controls environment.
  • Experience of working in an upstream oil and gas finance role.
  • Ability to gather information and deploy insights/guidance across the business in a manner that empowers and engages.
  • Ability to work pro-actively to raise the positive profile of fraud prevention and detection across the wide stakeholder base.
  • Experienced in managing stakeholder relationships cross-functionally.
Knowledge and skills required:
  • Qualified accountant with a strong financial controls or ideally fraud risk background.
  • Broad knowledge of BG Group's business and structure.
  • Self-starter with a drive to lead improvements.
  • Attention to detail, with an ability to grasp complex issues.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and implement change effectively.

Special features:
  • Ability to undertake occasional travel would be advantageous.
