Position Summary
The Gas Plant Principal Project Engineer (GPPE) on Prince Rupert Upstream (PRU) is responsible for the oversight and delivery of activities related to the development of the upstream gas processing plant located in the Montney shale play. The GPPE will be a pseudo role to the PRU Project Manager in managing the interface with Spectra, BG’s JV partner who will build, own and operate the gas processing plant and ensure compliance with national, international and BG standards and guidelines such that the engineering designs/deliverables satisfy BG assurance requirements.

The GPPE is the principal interface with Spectra executing the processing facility design work and supports the project manager regarding interfacing with the upstream and impacted parties (i.e. downstream engineering etc.). The GPPE will work extensively with BG’s discipline engineers and Spectra’s team to guide them as the main interface point .The GPPE is also the key technical interface with the upstream development team from a feed gas interface perspective.
Key Accountabilities
The GPP Project Engineer is accountable for the delivery of the engineering and project execution through Spectra on BG’s behalf and monitoring the cost and schedule across all intended engineering phases of upstream definition (i.e. Assess, Select, Define). Responsibilities will include;

• Coordinate Spectra to ensure execution in accordance with project directives.
• Provide technical input for the creation of the Basis of Design (BOD).
• Review and challenge project philosophies, progress reports, technical notes and other documentation.
• Coordinate and/or attend project reviews as required (Cost, Schedule, Peer, HAZOP, Risk, Readiness, etc).
• Steward the project risk register and any other review action registers to ensure the close-out of project actions.
• Assist with the coordination of team members and Spectra for all technical and readiness reviews.
• Manage and continuously improve the Engineering Contractor performance on design work to assure it meets the Company’s technical, financial, safety and environmental objectives.
• Assist in ensuring full compliance with BG, International and National codes and standards.
• Provide quality assurance of project related deliverables.
• Coordinate the discipline engineers in preparing engineering material for functional reviews.
• Attend quality monitoring events, including vendor reviews and FAT reviews.
• Manage the technical interface with the upstream JV partner and downstream LNG plant engineering.
• Develop good understanding of BG Standards and Guidelines to guide Contractors technically during the project.
• Coordinate and act as interface between project and BGA for dispensation requests.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• Delivery of at least one onshore related design project to FEED as a project engineer.
• Specialist knowledge in one main discipline of Mechanical, E&I or Process engineering.
• Broad knowledge of mechanical, E&I and process systems as well as some knowledge of C&P processes.
• Experience of managing technical scopes of work and engineering studies with third party engineering contractors to schedule and budget.
• Knowledge of engineering contract processes and sequences.
• Professional engineer with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
• Should be a full member of a professional body such as APEGA and show evidence of ongoing professional development. The person should be self-motivated to determine and outline the required engineering scope of work and identify and tender to suitable contractors going through to awarding and managing the various engineering contracts.
• Should have good communication skills for leading contractor discussions and building long term contractor relationships.
• Basic project management skills including scheduling, resource management, cost estimating and economics calculations.

The GPPE should be available to take occasional overseas trips for contractor meetings, FAT and site visits.
