At ActionAid we are delivering a bold strategy to provide sustained improvements to the poorest and most excluded people in the world. It means we’re creating fantastic career opportunities for experienced sector professionals who want to be part of an organisation that is making a real difference. Join our action to end poverty now and be part of something truly amazing.
Working in the Programme Funding Team within ActionAid UK, you will work at a strategic and operational level to generate and ultimately increase income for work undertaken by ActionAid country programmes through the effective management of relationships with institutional donors and large foundations.
In particular, you will lead our Big Lottery Fund funding strategy by building relationships, raising our profile and developing our engagement to ensure we maximise funding opportunities.
You will also support bid and tendering activities with DFID, EC and other government donors as well as assist with contract management.
You will keep abreast of donor priorities and objectives, sharing intelligence internally to ensure we capitalise on any synergies and communicate learning across the organisation to make sure we continue to operate effectively and meet funding targets. In addition you will help develop the capacity of ActionAid staff to secure and manage donor contracts efficiently.
You will need extensive experience of developing and implementing successful programme funding strategies and delivering income against targets coupled with a track record of preparing quality project proposals, narrative and financial reports.
Able to develop strong donor relationships you will be an effective project manager who can demonstrate significant success in securing grant applications and DFID tender bids at a multimillion level from a wide range of institutional donors.
An effective communicator with strong capacity building skills you will be comfortable managing multiple projects and prioritising needs. An understanding of development issues and experience of living and working overseas (ideally in a developing country) would be an advantage.
