Development and Production North America (DPNA) aims to develop a material and profitable position in North America, including deepwater Gulf of Mexico, unconventional gas and oil sands. In doing this, we will establish capability centres for deepwater and unconventional gas operations as well as carbon efficient oil sands extraction. This will ensure our further development in the area.

Job description

  • Reporting to Operations Leader, the Commissioning Superintendent is accountable for managing the provision of support services in the area of pre-operations technical support input, facility pre-commissioning, manage handover of systems for a safe and efficient startup. The position requires the ability to prepare and supervise installation of the process systems and safety systems. The Commissioning Superintendent will also oversee operations performed under the Permit to Work System. Accountabilities:
  • Ensure all activities are performed safely, within regulatory and company requirements, and in accordance with HSE standards
  • Assist the Production and Maintenance Superintendent in support of the operations team activities
  • Coordinate operations to meet or exceed availability and production targets
  • Communicate with other team leaders to optimize day to day operational activities
  • Coordinate the daily work activities including leading third party personnel and contractors to ensure work is completed safely and efficiently
  • Identify options for OPEX/Capex reduction and production optimization
  • Responsibilities:
  • Ensure company and 3rd party compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements as well as all Statoil HSE and operational standards, policies and practices
  • Oversee the commissioning and startup of safety systems, process control systems and communications systems; initiate any necessary action to ensure safe operation
  • Maintain compliance with operating procedures and work instructions
  • Coordinate participation in all studies, reviews and development of reports that highlight the resultant impact on facility pre-commissioning and start-up
  • Approve work permits according to permit-to-work procedures as required
  • Audit work practices and conformance to management systems as required
  • Identify opportunities and methods to achieve continuous improvement in the asset
  • Work within the asset to achieve a multi-discipline approach to problem solving and to meet or exceed asset objectives
  • Minimize impacts to the commissioning process during equipment installation; safeguard the availability and operating condition of all plant and equipment so that production targets can be achieved
  • Supervise equipment inspection and testing, including Critical Function Testing
  • Prepare reports and generate detailed records and handover notes as required to facilitate proper communications
  • Arrange, participate in and provide process input to HAZID/HAZOP/Design Reviews

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in the hydrocarbons industry and/or a relevant trade qualification or certificate required
  • Strong health, safety, environmental record required
  • Strong team working skills, along with experience in working with engineers and/or multi-disciplinary teams required
  • Strong petroleum regulatory compliance record preferred
  • Experience in oil and gas process, including separation, dehydration, compression, automation and control, safety and utility systems preferred
  • Experience in operational reporting, diagnostics, troubleshooting and production optimization preferred
  • Systemization of P & ID’s, drawings and flow process
  • A working knowledge of pumps, compressors, cranes, control systems, chemical and corrosion mitigation systems, and firefighting systems
  • Ability to develop start-up plans and procedures
  • Ability to detailed scope of work documentation for the commissioning of equipment
