Position Summary

The Director will be responsible for developing the Santos Basin oil marketing strategy and plan, and for executing the plan which requires BG to lift and market its equity oil to the international markets.

Key Accountabilities

The Director is responsible for the overall team leadership and direction of the development and implementation of BG’s crude oil marketing strategy from BG’s existing Santos Basin oil supply and any future international crude oil supply and marketing opportunities within the Americas.
• Lead the identification, development and maintenance of commercial customer relationships for BG’s international equity oils l marketed to customers in the Americas.
• Develop implementation plan of BG’s crude oil marketing strategy for Santos Basin Oil
• Identify the issues associated with lifting, transporting and marketing BG’s International oil in the Americas coordinate plans with BG’s upstream assets, BG global oil trading teams, and BG chartering and operations teams
• Advise in the development of appropriate infrastructure to facilitate access to markets
• Direct and manage the International oil marketing team in the Americas to deliver BG’s crude oil P&L and hedging strategies
• Conclude spot and term transactions, including development of BG contract templates utilizing industry standard GTCs
• Mentor Traders, Analysts and the marketing operations team
• Operates within GEMS guidelines and policies to achieve goals and targets as defined by executive management
• Develop and implement improvements to processes or systems as opportunity presents
• Direct the front-office and back-office staff in identifying and meeting the needs of customers. Conducts regular reviews to ensure provision of quality of service
• Direct support to Business Development efforts

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Experience Needed:
• Five-plus years of oil marketing and trading experience, with a well-regarded major, large independent or National Oil Company, including having served in a leadership/management role with responsibility for marketing in excess of 100,000 boepd of equity crude oil production.
• Significant exposure to international crude markets, including past/current
responsibility for the physical marketing of foreign-produced crude oils on both a spot and long-term basis.
• Detailed understanding of marketing offshore-produced (FPSO) crudes and of the crude oil shipping/chartering sector.
• In-depth knowledge of global downstream oil markets, in particular in the Americas 
• Past experience marketing new crudes is ideal, as is an understanding of the
technical issues associated with commercializing new-to-the-market crudes.
• Degree in business or science is desirable.

Special Features:
• May be required to travel to BG’s oil supply/sales locations
• May be required to travel to UK Head Office or Singapore office on occasion
• Will work on a trade floor environment, fast paced, dynamic and often noisy.
• Role may require working during evenings, weekends & holidays; laptop and Blackberry will be provided.
