Development and Production North America (DPNA) aims to develop a material and profitable position in North America, including deepwater Gulf of Mexico, unconventional gas and oil sands. In doing this, we will establish capability centres for deepwater and unconventional gas operations as well as carbon efficient oil sands extraction. This will ensure our further development in the area.

Job description

  • Under the general guidance of the Drill Manager, manages the drilling execution of development and exploration wells for assigned rigs conformance with established Statoil guidelines, policies, procedures and applicable governmental regulations
  • Ensures the field drilling operations follow written drilling procedures and achieve drilling objectives
  • Ensures all operational changes to plan are properly documented as per Management of Change procedures
  • Participates in the development of optimum operational, financial, safety and environmental goals
  • Actively participates in Well Design Reviews and Risk Assessments
  • Provides for the development of direct reports by means of Performance Appraisals and Personal Development Plans, as well as mentoring Reviews and approves rig inspection, incident investigation and safety meeting reports
  • Ensure communication follow-up on
  • deficiencies/remedial actions are conducted as per action plans
  • Provides relief for Drilling & Well Manager as required

Qualifications

  • Required
  • Minimum of 15+ years of experience of oil field drilling experience
  • Effective leadership and team building skills with the desire to mentor others technically and regarding career management
  • Visibly demonstrates personal and company HSE commitment
  • Expert knowledge of well control
  • Strong Risk and Project Management skills
  • Good PC skills with knowledge of MS Office Suite and competent with relevant morning report and data base systems
  • Strong knowledge of all drilling and service rig equipment
  • Must have experience in drilling field operations
  • Proven ability to handle contingencies necessary to adapt to scheduled changes, supply disruptions and other issues
  • Experience dealing with competing priorities and demonstrated flexibility regarding prioritization and re-deployment of resources/staff
  • Good contractor selection and performance management skills
  • Works well in multi-cultural environments
  • Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of US offshore regulations
