Position Summary

Our Project Management International Graduate Development Programme (IGDP) is a structured development programme which is designed to give individuals a strong grounding in the fast paced and ever changing world of Project Management and Controls. Our Project Management community are committed to plan, run and monitor major capital projects in a complex and high profile industry.

Project Management within BG Group sits within our Capital Projects Group whose primary objective is to turn project concepts into working facilities. The group is there to support our global asset teams around the world with expertise in project management and controls across all stages of our expansive project portfolio. Becoming a graduate on our Project Management IGDP will enhance your technical and practical skills, to give you the best possible start to a career in Project Management. 

Much of Project Management’s work in BG Group relates to both management of projects and the development and interpretation of project information in all its forms. The areas to which successful recruits to our Project Management IGDP will be exposed may include:

Planning 
Scheduling 
Cost management
Cost estimating
Risk management
Reporting

An understanding of all of the above skills are vital in becoming a skilled project management professional. On each assignment, you will be working alongside industry leading Project Management professionals from which you will learn how to manage all aspects of projects the BG Way.

Key Accountabilities

As a Project Management Graduate, you will acquire the necessary skills, experience and behaviours to enable you to make your project management career a success. 

You will be expected to undertake the appropriate technical and core training elements that will build on your practical skills as you progress through the programme. Relevant industry qualifications will be encouraged and supported to enable career progression.

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Strong applicants to the programme will have:
  • Achieved or be on target to achieve at least a 2:1, or equivalent, classification for your accredited university degree that should allow you to take on further post graduate study in a technical or business discipline.
  • May have achieved a relevant post graduate qualification.
You will be expected to display a number of key skills and attributes:
  • A high level of analytical and problem solving skills
  • A good understanding of business benefits and the importance of achieving deadlines and budgets
  • Good communicator with the ability to challenge others in a constructive manner and negotiate successfully to achieve positive outcomes
  • Strong interpersonal skills including influencing skills and mental resilience
  • High level computing skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent presentation skills with clear, strong report writing ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to focus on the key operational issues and prioritise accordingly
  • A proven self-starter who can manage a challenging workload
  • Demonstrate an interest in and commitment to an internationally mobile career
  • Fluent in English, written and verbal, with fluency in at least one other language a plus
Since at least one or more of your placements will be based overseas, you must be prepared to live and work away from home for extended periods. You must also have the confidence, influence, patience and cultural sensitivity to make the most of the opportunity. You are expected to build internal and external networks amongst peers and BG colleagues across functions and countries.
