Chief of Party - Urban Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The role holder is expected to provide leadership to the World Vision Ethiopias (WVE’s) Urban WASH project. He/She will liaise with key WASH sector actors to create harmony and alignment with the Country’s one WASH national program and implement the project in the operational areas


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensure proper leadership and management to the urban WASH project of WVE with strict adherence to World Vision personnel, financial and other applicable policies, strategies, guidelines, principles and core values.
  • Provide the necessary technical and administrative support in the program design, development of appropriate urban WASH models, and implementation of projects within the approved budget limits.
  • Ensure the implementations of all projects in the operation areas are in compliance with donor’s requirements, government policies and global standards.
  • Ensure the implementation of the urban WASH projects are in compliance with their plan, work schedule, budget and quality to ensure proper accountability to donors, government and the benefiting community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
    Required:
  • M.Sc. Degree in Environmental Sanitation, Sociology & Related Fields.
  • At least a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in WASH in an international NGO or similar organization with minimum of 3 years managerial position.
  • Strong adherence to World Vision values.
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity and integrity.
  • Proven experience of managing donor(s) funded projects or programs.
  • Good computer skills including MS Word , Excel and internet applications.
  • Knowledge and Experience in CLTS-H, SLTS-H and PHAST.
  • Proven knowledge of community engagement methodologies and the ability to work in a participative manner developing shared ownership and vision.
  • Appropriate skills and experience in the capacity building and training of staff and partners.
  • Experience in monitoring and evaluation.
  • Experience in proposal development, budget preparation and report writing.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
