OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the department of Operational Support and Services (OSS) is to ensure high quality, consistent and responsive managerial and administrative services to all programmes and staff in headquarters, and where relevant, to all regions of WHO, and to promote an efficient and collaborative customer oriented working environment to achieve results.
The Logistics Support Services team LSS, under Director, OSS consists of the following sub-units Conference and Events Coordination CEC, Records and Archives RAS, Travel TRV and Staff Orientation Services SOS.
Description of duties:
1. Keeping abreast of and evaluating the trends in facilities management with a view to benefit from technological and intellectual developments that would satisfy the Organization s requirements.

2. Ensuring the coordination of arrangements for major conferences, including meetings of the Governing Bodies, organized by Headquarters as well as advice and assistance to Regional Offices in connection with their conference requirements.

3. Maintaining awareness about the trends in air travel to ensure best practices are implemented which ensure the most cost effective air travel.

4. The provision of administrative and technical advice and guidance to Regional and other Offices in particular in the area of assigned responsibilities. Serve as a point of contact with the Regional Offices in such matters.

5. Ensuring the administrative management and effectiveness of mail and pouch, document storage and dispatch , office print production,conference and events servicing, travel and transportation.

6. The formulation of a major segment of the Department's budget including the financial and budgetary control thereof.

7. Establishing and enforcing work methods and procedures and ensuring consistency of approach with regard to guidelines and standards.

8. Represent the Department and WHO at Inter Agency meetings.

9. Related duties as required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential:
Advanced level degree from a university of recognized standing in business administration, event management, public relations or similar.

Desirable:
Formal education or diploma in the field of international conference management.
Skills: 
Excellent inter personal, people management and communications skills.

Other skills:
Computer literacy word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, Excel, GSM.

Experience:
At least 10 years experience in management at the supervisory level in an international setting.
Sound experience in staff management, budgetary and financial control.
Operational experience and in depth managerial knowledge in conference services, meeting management and corporate travel.
Ability in contract negotiations for goods and services.
Proven supervisory and managerial ability.
Thorough knowledge of different facets of facilities management and logistics support, including the functioning of international conferences and administrative services in an international setting.
Ability to manage significant and diversified financial, human and physical resources.
Languages:
Essential:
Expert knowledge of English or French with intermediate knowledge of the other.

USD 80887 at single rate
USD 87069 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
