OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME :
The objective of the Polio Eradication Initiative (POL) is to interrupt the transmission of wild poliovirus globally by leading the global effort of national governments and the global polio eradication partnership.
The External Relations team supports the development, and implementation of the overall strategy and framework for resource mobilization, communications and advocacy for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
Description of duties:
The incumbent will be based in Geneva, Switzerland at the WHO.
Assigned responsibilities are as follows;
1) Develop and implement specific resource mobilization plans and tailored donor engagement and recognition strategies in coordination with GPEI partners.
2) Act as primary relationship manager for existing donors including response to information requests, clear communication of programmatic and financial status.
3) In collaboration with GPEI implementing partners maintain financial tracking of pipeline funding.
4) Write donor correspondence, proposals and reports, including regular updates on the status of polio eradication.
5) Produce donor focused information products, including update bulletins and webstories.
6) Negotiate donor agreements to ensure compliance with WHO rules, regulations and policies.
7) Develop donor briefing notes for the Director-General, the Assistant Director-General PEC, and Director POL, as required.
8) Monitor and research donor policies, trends and funding mechanisms, including identification of new funding streams within existing donors.
9) Identify potential new donors, from the public and private sectors; develop solicitation strategies and manage new relationships.
10) Collaborate with regional and country offices to identify sources of funding at country level and ensure a comprehensive, consistent approach to donor relations.
11) Work with counterparts in GPEI partners in the mobilization of resources. Participate in GPEI working groups as required.
12) Contribute to development, refinement and execution of overall GPEI resource mobilization strategy.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Essential:
An advanced University degree in international relations, communications, marketing, business administration or other related area.

Desirable:
Professional certification in resource mobilization or fundraising.
Skills: 
Excellent written and oral communications, organizational and negotiation skills.
Significant experience in developing and implementing resource mobilization strategies.
Diplomacy and tact.
Ability to innovate.
Knowledge of public health and international relations required.
High degree of professionalism.
Ability to work effectively with colleagues at national and international levels, and work under tight deadlines.

Other skills:
Good knowledge of using PowerPoint and Excel software programmes.

Experience:
Essential:
At least seven years resource mobilization experience is required of which at least five years experience working in an international environment with NGOs, international organizations, international financing institutions and/or government agencies.
Experience working in a team environment and with partners.
Experience mobilizing funds from bilateral donors.

Desirable:
Experience working in the field of public health.
Experience working for a UN agency in resource mobilization.
Experience working with North American donor markets.
Languages:
Essential:
Expert knowledge of English.

Desirable:
Intermediate knowledge of French and Arabic.

USD 67611 at single rate
USD 72605 with primary dependants
Post Adjustment: 103.3 % of the above figure(s). This percentage is to be considered as indicative since variations may occur each month either upwards or downwards due to currency exchange rate fluctuations or inflation.
