An exciting opportunity has arisen within The University of the West of Scotland’s Estates Department for a highly motivated engineer with a successful background in the operation, maintenance and renewal of HV and LV electrical systems.
As our Field Services Engineer (Electrical), you will have a high level of knowledge and analytical skills gained through extensive work experience, with particular emphasis on operation and maintenance activity. You must be able to demonstrate relevant experience at line management level and should preferably have a relevant degree or equivalent experience.
The primary responsibilities include line managing a team of Technicians to successfully develop and deliver a programme of planned preventive maintenance for the University's electrical assets, also playing an integral role in the planning and achieving the safe operation and compliance of electrical systems and assets across all campuses. In addition you will assist with the administration, continued development and analysis of the University’s Building Management System with particular emphasis on energy efficiency / carbon reduction and legislative compliance, whilst making a significant contribution to the activity of a dynamic and responsive Estates team.
You will procure and manage maintenance contracts including the supervision and monitoring of multiple contractors and service providers, offering technical advice and assistance to a range of technical and non-technical colleagues. You will agree and sustain a programme of continuing professional development within the field of electrical services, staff management and motivation, contract procurement & administration along with relevant technical/legislative developments to ensure systems and asset compliance is maintained and future proofed. Regular travel between University campuses is essential to fulfil this role.
