The Organization:
Since 1974, IFDC has focused on increasing and sustaining food security and agricultural productivity in over 100 developing countries through the development and transfer of effective and environmentally sound crop nutrient technology and agribusiness expertise. IFDC enables smallholder farmers in developing countries to increase agricultural productivity, generate economic growth and practice environmental stewardship by enhancing their ability to manage mineral and organic fertilizers responsibly and participate profitability in input and output markets.
The Role:
The GIS Intern will serve as the assistant to the GIS Specialist. This position is assigned to the Office of Operations (OoP).
Responsibilities:
  • Use of spatial analysis for developing maps for scientific use
  • Data collection and management
  • Assisting in development of program routines to link spatial data to simulation models
Required Skills
  • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS and ERDAS software suites
Education and work experience:
  • Geographic Information Science Majors
  • Junior status for Bachelor Degree students
  • 12 hours per week minimum, flexible scheduling
