Head of Communications

We are looking for a Head of Communications who will be responsible for leading on the further development and implementation of WWF-Malaysia’s Communications Strategy as captured in the WWF-Malaysia Strategy 2012-2020.

Location:

WWF office in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.

Main responsibilities:
1. In executing WWF-Malaysia’s Communication Strategy, lead and be responsible for coordinating/managing the development and production of communications materials for dissemination across all media, to enhance the organization’s profile and to market its activities (including regional programs, recruitment, fundraising, etc.) by creatively leveraging on existing and new communication tools.

2. Lead the production of WWF-Malaysia’ publications (print and electronic) including WWF-Malaysia’s Annual Review and Website and ensures a positive projection of the organization’s image to internal and external stakeholders, as well as the public at large. In doing so, the incumbent will build and maintain strong rapport with the various media players in the country as well as other external networks and partners such as governmental and corporate bodies so that the implementation of communication programmes can proceed smoothly and that all objectives are met in a timely and professional manner

3. Take the lead engagement role at all public events involving the organization, media and various stakeholders, especially in preparing the Executive Director/CEO in his engagement in such events with particular reference to Powerpoint presentations, speeches, talks and strategic advice on stakeholders present and approach WWF-Malaysia should take in all such engagements. .

4. Function as the focal person with regard to liaison with the WWF Network and WWF International on all strategic communications matters, development of network policies (working closely with technical staff members from other departments) and other emerging communications issues as assigned by the Executive Director/CEO.


What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies 
1. A Master’s degree or a minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Public Relations and Journalism.

2. 5-10 years of proven leadership experience, with demonstrated success in engaging with teams in public relations, marketing communications and outreach.

3. Excellent written and oral skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia with strong presentation skills (written & verbal).

4. Strong organizational management and good interpersonal skills with versatile communication ability.

5. Good understanding of current issues especially having knowledge on environmental and conservation issues in order to be able to effectively promote appreciation of the same to target audience(s). 

6. Good appreciation of WWF-Malaysia’s operations and its philosophy.
