Mechanical Maintenance Technician
Tropicana represents the most significant Australian gold discovery of the last decade. The new, large scale open pit gold mining operation will produce 3.6 million ounces over a 10 year mine life (approved project). Construction began in 2011 and first gold production was achieved in September 2013 ahead of schedule.
We are now seeking 4 x Mechanical Maintenance Technicians (Fitters) to join our Maintenance team at the Tropicana Gold Mine.
Accountable to the Mechanical Maintenance Superintendent, these roles are responsible for maintaining assets to ensure maximum efficiency of equipment and high plant utilisation. This role is based at Tropicana Gold Mine on an 8/6 roster flying from either Kalgoorlie or Perth.
The main tasks of the role include but are not limited to:
- Carry out fixed-plant Maintenance tasks in the Processing Plant and associated areas as directed by the Maintenance Supervisors
- Maintaining Crushers, Conveyor Systems, Pumps, Pipe Work, Ball Mill, Concentrators, Vibrating Screens & Feeders, Cranes & Hoists, Cyclones and all associated Tanks, Launders and Steelworks. The tasks involved in maintaining this equipment will include, but not necessarily be limited to, Welding, Painting, Greasing (lubrication) and Fitting
- Carry out installation of new equipment or modifications to existing equipment
- Assist with shutdown co-ordination and execution
- Ensuring that all activities are effective through cross-functional liaison and teamwork in accordance with the professional standards established by the Maintenance team
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current Mechanical Trade Qualification, either as a Fitter and Machinist or a Boiler Maker/Welder
- Experience in the maintenance of mineral processing or heavy industrial plants
- Experience working with noise, dust, elevated work areas, confined work areas, extremes of temperature, water, and slurry
- The ability to work as part of a Multi-skilled Workforce and strong interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to people at all levels
- Good level of computer skills
- Be a self-starter and have a dedicated commitment to safety, quality and teamwork
- Current WA Drivers Licence
- A National Police Clearance
- Permanent work rights in Australia
