Senior Programme Officer, Grant Operations

Mama Cash is looking for a Senior Programme Officer, Grant Operations. This position is 32-36 hours/week and based in Amsterdam.
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Programme Officer for Grant Operations leads and manages a team of Programme Associates and works with other Programme Officers, the Grants Administration team and the Coordinator of the Red Umbrella Fund to develop, implement, assess and continuously improve Mama Cash's grants procedures and policies to ensure smooth processing, administration and management of applications and grants; collect and share data about our accountability, effectiveness and impact; and ensure a positive experience for grantees and applicants.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of feminist social movements especially in the global south and east, superior communication and problem solving skills, and be an excellent people and project manager, ideally with grantmaking experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work with the Programmes and Grants Administration teams to develop, implement, assess and continuously improve Mama Cash's grants procedures and policies to ensure smooth processing, administration and management of applications and grants, and positive experiences for grantees and applicants.
  • Act as a sub-team leader and manage a team of approx. 5 Programme Associates, managing workflows and divisions of workload responsibilities to ensure the team is supported, and grant applications are processed consistently, in good time and to high data management standards. Advise the Director about staffing and training needs of the team.
  • Ensure Programme Associates are able to provide sufficient regional analysis, and translation and operational support to Programme Officers during grantmaking, grant management and grant administration processes.
  • Oversee maintenance of all grantee files and data to ensure they are accurate, consistent and complete.
  • Act as liaison between the Grants Administration and Programmes teams to process grants, improve procedures and policies, and support positive working relationships.
  • Oversee the process of collecting and sharing of data about our accountability, effectiveness and impact in coordination with the Learning and Evaluation Specialist and colleagues in the Communications and Philanthropic Partnerships team.
  • Manage, monitor and strengthen the pool of grant Advisors.
KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND EXPERIENCE
  • Substantive knowledge of and commitment to women's human rights and the work of women's, girls and trans rights groups, particularly in the global south and east.
  • Track record of successfully managing high performing teams; strong interpersonal and communication skills; sensitivity and appreciation for diverse viewpoints and different communication styles in a politically and culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to take independent initiative and solve problems creatively.
  • Superior organizational, administrative and project management skills, and ability to manage complex tasks, prioritize competing demands and issues, meet deadlines, and motivate others to do the same. Experience with grantmaking preferred.
  • Computer literate (proficient in MS Office, familiarity with database programmes).
