SNV Netherlands Development Organisation seeks to fill the following position:
Senior Strategy Officer - Wash
Based in The Hague, the Netherlands
(National contract)

Founded in the Netherlands nearly 50 years ago, we have built a long-term, local presence in 38 of the poorest countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Our global team of local and international advisors work with local partners to equip communities, businesses and organizations with the tools, knowledge and connections they need to increase their incomes and gain access to basic services - empowering them to break the cycle of poverty and guide their own development
For SNV's Head Office in The Hague we are recruiting a senior strategy officer WASH. The officer will be part of the Strategy Team and collaborates closely with the global WASH team.
Given the profiling role in the Netherlands, verbal and written fluency in Dutch is required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Most of the activities focus on the Netherlands and other countries in Europe
  • Represent and profile SNV work in WASH pro-actively and externally at conferences, in networks, partnerships and through social media
  • Develop and maintain a network with key stakeholders and translate relevant policy trends in recommendations and advice for SNV's positioning in WASH
  • Manage and establish relevant partnerships and collaborative activities with other stakeholders in WASH in order to boost synergy, quality and scale
  • Contribute to SNVs knowledge networking and evidence based advocacy roles by supporting action research, knowledge products and further develop activities in the field of policy influencing
  • Providing support to SNV's Business Development Team in order to contribute to SNV's revenue and resource base
Candidate Profile
Given the profiling role in the Netherlands, verbal and written fluency in Dutch is required.
  • University degree in the field of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, development sciences, economics or business administration;
  • Affinity with SNV's mission and ways of working;
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience, including a variety of aspects of advisory work and knowledge development in the field of WASH;
  • Sound experience with knowledge development, organizational learning and innovation, action research and evidence based advocacy
  • Successful experiences in Business Development particularly in WASH;
  • Flexible team player familiar with track-record in an international organization;
  • Strong speaker, writer and debater with experience in profiling the content of our work in international settings and circles;
  • Well developed and proven representative skills and relevant up to date network with academic and knowledge institutions, international organizations, private sector and donors in WASH;
Contract Duration: 1 year
Desired Start Date: As soon as possible.
