WASH Waste Management Assistant

PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To oversee the management, removal and disposal of solid waste and sewage from refugee settlement and coordinate with relevant stakeholders (refugees, suppliers, municipality, water establishment, Litany River basic authority).
Major Tasks
Raising awareness:
  • Explain to refugees the importance of waste management, in coordination with hygiene promoters.
  • Develop/ maintain close relationship with municipalities in order to raise awareness about solid waste issues. Ensure that the municipalities are collecting waste from the ITS
Forging Relationships:
  • Coordinate with WASH officers, hygiene promoter, municipalities, chiefs, suppliers, refugees, and WASH Committees regarding waste management in all its aspects: rubbish bins, rubbish collections, sewage dislodging, ITS cleaning.
  • Conducting assessments in coordination with WASH assistants.
Assessing Risks:
  • Report areas of concern to the WASH coordinator.
  • Assess public hygiene risks and needs.
Reporting:
  • Send reports to the WASH coordinator related to the waste materials distributed.
  • Send reports containing details about the collection of the solid waste and sewage dislodging.
  • Send details about the number of total ITS that WV is involved in
Minimum requirements
Education
  • University degree
Knowledge and Skills
  • Good understanding of World Vision and Sphere relief standards.
  • Good management and administrative skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal and written and oral communication skills
  • Must have cross-cultural sensitivity, problem solving and negotiation skills.
  • Good team building skills, Acquire a creative, innovative, and adaptability personality.
  • Ability to cope and work under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural and difficult / sensitive contexts.
  • Computer literate with a high degree of proficiency and productivity
  • Has project and team management experience
  • Has strong knowledge of core principles of Children Rights, Participation, Do No Harm, as well as Children in Emergencies minimum standards.
  • Has strong knowledge about NFIs and Wash distribution
  • Good understanding of sphere relief standards
Experience
  • Relevant Experience in relief project implementation

  • 100% Field Work
