Finance Assistant


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist the Senior Finance Officer in preparing documents for monthly reconciliations. This includes but is not limited to scanning vouchers, translating receipts from Turkish to English language, attach meeting forms with sign in sheets and agendas for conducted seminars
· Prepares lodging forms for hotels, make sure hotel invoices are presented in proper form and received on time. Translate receipts from Turkish to English language;
· Prepares per diem and travel reimbursement forms for seminar participants and NDI personnel;
· Prepare reimbursement documents for field coordinators
· Make sure Note of Expenses (Gider Pusulasi) book is up to dated, notarized and contain enough expense sheets;
· Upload all scanned documents to Google Drive, and organize the files in logical sequence for easier future reference, paying attention to the transaction numbers assigned;
· Assist financial auditors with access to all finance documents and ensure their return after inspection;
· Manage accounts payable and receivable and petty cash;
· Disperse cash to program staff as instructed by Senior Resident Representative;
EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE
· University degree in economic or other administrative science at a recognized college or university;
· Minimum one (1) year of experience in finance assistance; and
· Experience in international development, community organizing, civil society activism, or organizational development.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Written and oral Turkish and English language skills required, as well as Turkish to English/English to Turkish written and oral translation abilities, additional Arabic language skills preferred;
· Demonstrated background knowledge of Turkish financial and accounting procedures;
· Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of staff, international personnel, and NGO community;
· High level of oral and written communication skills to effectively present information and respond to questions in Turkish, English, and/or Arabic ;
· Capacity to work both independently and as a member of a team;
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions;
· Ability and flexibility to work beyond normal working hours if and when needed;
· Working knowledge of Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Google Drive, G+, etc.) , PC-based word processing and spreadsheet applications, and Quicken accounting software preferred; and
· Ability and willingness to travel to Ankara and regional locations, as security permits.
