Background / General description:


SouthAsia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF) aims to create opportunities and improve lives. SEDF facilitates the growth of small and medium enterprises by helping improve their access to finance through a supportive financial infrastructure, financial products development and strengthening of financial institutions; providing quality business services towards strengthening value chains; and helps businesses adapt to the impacts of climate change. SEDF operates in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Northeast India and Nepal The Access to Finance (A2F) unit of SEDF works with the Financial Institutions (FIs) in Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Northeast India (NEI), to build their capacity in financing SMEs. In addition, A2F team supports the development of financial infrastructure in the region. Following are the ATF products:  SME Banking  Collateral Registries  Agriculture Finance  Sustainable Energy Finance  Trade Finance  Insurance  Leasing  Microfinance  Credit Bureaus  Gender Finance  Housing Finance  Payment System and Remittances  Securities Markets

Duties and Accountabilities:


The Analyst will support the South Asia A2F team. He/she will have the following key responsibilities:
  • Support the task manager in project implementation and facilitate the existing/new technical assistance projects in SEDF s portfolio, including developing excellent client relations, writing and reviewing project papers, funding proposals and supervisor reports, assisting in the documentation of project progress in IFC s internal tracking systems, drafting terms of reference and requests for proposals, supporting the consultant selection and hiring processes and collecting and analyzing data from projects in order to update indicators in line with M&E requirements.
  • Assist in the identification, negotiation and preparation of new technical assistance projects and procuring consulting services for IFC clients in access to finance projects
  • Participate actively in joint appraisal teams working on new advisory in access to finance
  • Liaise between the A2F team and clients/partners on specific projects
  • Participate in / lead other initiatives as opportunities arise
  • Selection Criteria:


  • Graduation in Finance / Economics / Business Administration or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
  • 2-3 years of hands on experience in Commercial Banking, Credit or Corporate Banking in South Asia.
  • Relationship Management experience and ability to establish strong credibility among senior clients. Preference will be given to candidates having directly managed relationships with both regulators and large financial institutions.
  • Sound business judgment and strong problem solving, negotiation, and commercial skills particularly relating to procurement of project essentials including consulting services in compliance with standards.
  • Self-starter, mature, and flexible attitude; able to work in multicultural, fast-paced team and possessing the ability to work effectively in teams, communicate ideas clearly and confidently, articulate issues and recommend solutions.
  • High level of proficiency with MS Office software
  • Must be able and willing to travel in South Asia
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, deal with conflicting priorities and deliver high quality work on schedule
