Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) is a division of Transnet responsible for freight movement across South Africa. We’re looking for a talented individual who is interested in becoming part of the TFR team and improving the movement of rail freight in SA.

Specialist, Environmental Management
Bellville

The incumbent will be responsible for developing, monitoring and facilitating implementation of integrated environmental management policies, processes, procedures and systems that are in line with Transnet Freight Rail’s environmental management strategy.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Develop, implement, monitor and capacitate line management on the Environmental Management Systems (EMS)
  
• Research, formulate, document, secure approval and manage specialist contracts for environmental rehabilitation works
  
• Ensure integration and alignment of the EMS framework
  
• Ensure cost-effective management of environmental issues
  
• Devise and conduct specialist pollution or environmental risk assessment
  
• Devise, conduct and record the annual environmental audit programme for line functions
  
• Ensure organisational compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory instruments and framework
  
• Enable Transnet Freight Rail to achieve optimum business objectives
  
• Enforce compliance with conditions of environmental approvals for all new projects as required by law
  
• Translate, devise and implement international best practice standards and systems in accordance with ISO 14001

Applications are invited from diligent and well-organised candidates who are in possession of a degree or equivalent qualification in Environmental Management or related field. Applicants must have at least three (3) years’ experience in environmental management or related field as well as a Code B driver’s licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle. A postgraduate qualification will be an advantage.

Applicants will undergo a comprehensive assessment process, including a medical examination.
