Citizen Voice and Action Learning Specialist

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

    • Citizen Voice and Action is World Vision's approach to social accountability and our premier approach to advocacy at the community level. CVA is growing substantially throughout the WV Partnership with new designs, grant applications, and research projects emerging several times every month. This position will supervise and coordinate designs, grant applications, and research projects.
    • CVA is increasingly included in bilateral and multilateral grants as a complementary element to health, education, water and sanitation, or agriculture projects. The position will work with a variety of SO, NO, and RO stakeholders to ensure that grant applications are coordinated to maximize value and reduce the risk of duplicative activities. The position will also ensure that these applications reflect a sophisticated understanding of social accountability and CVA.
    • In addition, the successful candidate will coordinate a variety of research projects on CVA, identify new research opportunities, and ensure that the learning from research is reflected in new designs. As coordinator of these research projects, the successful candidate should be prepared to represent WV in important debates and fora related to social accountability and advocacy.
    • The successful candidate will also work with Regions to support National Offices to ensure that new LLA project designs, especially ADP designs and redesigns, reflect the best practice and lessons from the field. These designs should also demonstrate strategic integration with IPM.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Work with SOs, NOs, and ROs to incorporate data and lessons from research into grant applications.
    • Work with SOs, NOs, ROs and WVI to coordinate CVA research projects, identify new opportunities, and represent WV in important fora.
    • Work with SOs, NOs, and ROs to ensure high quality LLA designs.
    • Ensure learning from research is incorporated into CVA capacity building materials and events


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
      REQUIRED:
    • At least a Master’s degree in field relevant to international development, community mobilisation and empowerment, or citizenship and governance.
    • Strong understanding of research methodologies and trends in social sciences.
    • Experience leading or contributing to the acquisition of bilateral or multilateral grants
    • DM&E experience with local level projects.
    • At least 2 years experience working in the area of international development with full understanding and practice of citizen-led advocacy, citizenship and governance -- and their combination
    • At least 2 years experience working in diverse community development contexts
    • Experience in leading learning processes within a large organisation comparable to World Vision

      PREFERRED:
    • Experience working in the area of international development with specific experience in community mobilisation citizen-led advocacy and campaigning at local and higher levels.
    • Experience working in diverse community development contexts in developing countries.
    • Experience in leading research activities and learning initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
