Active research groups within the Applied Mathematics Division include Computer Vision & Machine Learning, Fluid Modelling & Simulation, Numerical Analysis & Scientific Computing and Applied Discrete Mathematics.

Duties:
• Teaching undergraduate Engineering Mechanics;
• postgraduate teaching and active research in Fluid Modelling & Simulation;
• interacting with and enhancing the Fluid Modelling & Simulation research group.

Requirements:
• PhD in Applied Mathematics or Engineering (preferably in the area of Fluid Modelling & Simulation);
• a commitment to excellence in teaching and research;
• ability to teach Engineering Mechanics students in Afrikaans.

Recommendations:
• A research interest, publications and a record of postgraduate supervision in Fluid Modelling & Simulation;
• experience and an interest in multi-phase flow or porous media;
• experience in teaching large classes of undergraduate Engineering Mechanics students;
• sound communicative skills;
• ability to teach in both Afrikaans and in English;
• existing research contacts and industrial liaison;
• ability to design new undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

Commencement of duties: 1 April 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter
