Senior Engineer - Reliability (MAP)

The Senior Reliability Engineer position is a key role that will minimize equipment downtime, optimize lifecycle costs and enhance equipment availability to achieve increased production. The role provides leadership and guidance for effective Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Team processes for continuous improvements designed for maintenance activities and operation of area equipment. Develop optimized operation and maintenance strategies for plant equipment based on Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and other reliability methodologies, facilitate root cause analysis, recommend design changes determined by RCM studies, prioritize and eliminate defects, develop critical spare parts lists and analyze data to determine economic benefits and prioritize the effort. ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Ensure that all Reliability improvement work complies with all applicable State, Federal, KUC Safety Environmental standards and business policies.
  • Apply reliability technical/functional expertise and assisting Kennecott operations/maintenance & reliability professionals including Junior Reliability Engineers.
  • Establish strong collaborative relationships within Kennecott and other business units.
  • Develop and maintain an Equipment Criticality register.
  • Facilitate various types of reliability meetings with action and follow up.
  • Champion change by following Management of Change (MOC) procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is desirable, but not required.
  • Reliability, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineering degrees preferred.
  • Extensive technical knowledge/experience (5+ years) in maintenance /reliability focused positions.
  • Exposure to and application of the following disciplines:
1) reliability centered maintenance - RCM,
2) root cause analysis - RCA,
3) condition based / predictive maintenance - CBM (vibration, tribology, infrared, ultasonics, etc.)
  • SMRP certification, or ability to become certified within 18 months.
  • Desirable certifications include: ASNT level 2 Vibration Analysis, ASNT level 2 Thermography, ASNT level 1 lubrication/oil analysis, ultrasonic training, RCM training, failure analysis training and MCEmax training.
  • Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
  • Knowledgeable in the use and integration of predictive and preventive maintenance tools.
  • Must have a strong, demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and advanced communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills a must.
