 I. TechnoServe Background:
 
  TechnoServe is an international, non-profit economic development  organization founded in 1968 out of a conviction that a vibrant private  sector is an essential foundation for economic growth and poverty  reduction.  TechnoServe undertakes targeted, catalytic technical  assistance and other programming to increase the competitiveness of  entrepreneurs, businesses and industries that in-turn provide  sustainable employment, inclusion of the poor and increased incomes.   TechnoServe operates in 25 developing countries with over 1000  employees.  A substantial portion of our work is in agriculture,  enhancing farm productivity and commodity quality and addressing gaps in  processing and other agribusiness capacities.  Our programs increase  smallholder access to new technologies, aggregation and storage  mechanisms, markets, critical information and finance.  TechnoServe also  undertakes structured programs to identify and support high potential  entrepreneurs in various sectors through leadership mentoring networks,  formalization support, access to capital and development of sustainable  business services such as accounting, finance, marketing and human  resource management.
  
II. Program Description:
TechnoServe helps entrepreneurial men and women in the developing world to build businesses that provide jobs, income, and economic opportunity. We seek to hire a highly experienced, committed, and passionate manager with significant economic strengthening experience to lead an anticipated five-year program based in Swaziland. The program will focus on economic strengthening and livelihoods development targeting the most vulnerable Swazis and those most affected by HIV/AIDs, especially women and OVCs (orphans and vulnerable children).
  
 III. Position Description:
 Responsibilities:
  • Develop, lead, manage, and measure impact of economic strengthening  and livelihoods development program targeting women and OVCs with the  goal of improving participants’ health status
 • Manage and motivate expert consultants, employees and volunteers
 • Develop and manage program budgets
 • Manage donor, public sector, and private sector relationships
 • Coordinate with partner grantees to administrate a cohesive program
  
 IV. Required Skills & Experience:
 
  • 5+ years of work experience, including significant experience in one or more of the following areas:
       1) Leading field-based economic strengthening projects in  developing country supply chains targeting vulnerable women and OVCs
       2) Leading livelihoods development programs for health organisations or with health-related targets
       3) Performing business strategy consulting, leading strategic  analysis and/or conducting business reviews for major international  business(es)
 • 4-year university degree in business administration, economics,  international development, public health or related discipline; MBA, MPH  or other relevant masters degree preferred
 • Proven program management skills including ability to develop team charters, work plans, and targets and manage against them
 • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
 • Swaziland or Southern Africa country experience and networks
 • Experience working for donor-funded projects in economic development and/or public health
 • Experience working with U.S. Government funded programs, particularly for USAID, is a plus
 • Fluency in English is required; Fluency in siSwati is a plus
